3 of my kids saw it (separately) and raved about it and said how I would LOOOOOOVE it and how it was just my sort of movie....

I was more than content to wait for the DVD.  Am getting to the 'grumpy old lady' stage - cinema going is more of a pain than it is enjoyable; specially the part with having to SHARE my space with the Public.  Public who

it was very pretty. i found the 3d to be just incredible and amazing and such a huge step forward, technology/art wise.

and the music was pretty.

and the story pretty much sucked. for so many reasons that have been talked about by lots of people. (blah blah stereotypes/clunky script/UNsubtle plot/race fail blah blah)

and without the 3D it wouldn't have been worth it for me. but purely for that i thought it was a great experience.

Yes I found that but at the same time there is hope, unlike so many times when we have driven natives from their land this time the natives won and this to me is a message of hope in some ways. I have seen it twice now and just can't get enough of it was trying to fit in a third showing today but could not find the time but have orged with a friend to see it in the new year again.

I was a bit disappointed by the music. I kept thinking "in lord of the rings... the music did this..." or something like that. I'm sure it is pretty to listen to, but in the movie I don't think it stirred up the emotions as much as it could have.

And yes. The movie was terribly sad. I cried. But I thought the movie was good, too. Their future is uncertain and you want them to live free, but you know... if that stuff is that valuable, yeah, they'll be nuked, or something. :(

Actually, it'll take a while before any people from Earth go back to Pandora. When word will spread that the company attempted genocide and when all those company people will get back to Earth and confirm that - the shit will hit the fan for the company and they will go down.

In all likelihood, A new company will have to buy the rights to the mines and they'll have to promise to play nice. Public opinion is funny like that.

Should this new company choose to ignore that promise and bring bigger guns to Pandora, then it'll get really interesting... I don't think we've seen everything that Eywa can do. She's alive, and she is a planet.

And all of this will take at least 12 years to happen, and it's not like the humans and avatars who stayed behind are stupid. They'll make their own plans too.

Chock full of pantheist propaganda. Sort of like "Dances With Wolves" in outer space. Incredible special effects in this film, yes, but it can't save it from one-dimensional characters and eco-Marxist preaching.

And Cameron worked on this for, what, 14 years? It's a shame it could have been better.
