ahahaha, the look on Lee and Kara's faces just kills me, every time.
(and that is part of what I love about Lee's relationship with Kara, so much - that they themselves were kissing just hours earlier, but now they've instantly shifted gears back to the vibe of disgruntled siblings watching mom and dad kiss)
I really like that neither of them is surprised. They are just embarassed, which I think is sort of natural. I wonder when they realized Bill/Laura had a thing for each other , when they learned for sure that they had a relationship and how Lee in particular reacted. I also would really like to know how Bill would have reacted if the circumstances were reversed...

I bet it was c. Sine Qua Non, the whole taking-a-Raptor-and-waiting-alone-for-Laura thing must've been a giant tipoff.
Lee didn't really seem surprised then. That was a huge confession, imo. I'd like to know when he first started to suspect and his initial reaction. I don't think father and son ever really talked about it, but Lee definetely knew and had known for a while. I think it is so sad that Adama never seemed to realize what Lee's feelings for Kara really were. I guess if he had ever witnessed a scene like that he would have been terribly surprised but in the middle of that chaos wouldn't really have time to delve into it.
tl;dr response! :)scifishipperJanuary 24 2013, 13:53:28 UTC
I agree. I think Lee made his first overture of "knowing" when Kara came back in her shiny new viper. He asked Bill if Laura was still staying with him in his quarters. And I wouldn't be surprised if Lee had known well before then, too.
I think it's a wee bit odd that there was never acknowledgement from Bill or Laura about Lee's feelings for Kara, but it also supports the idea that their relationship was illicit. The fannish explanations, as I am sure you are aware, are that Kara was Zak's and Bill wouldn't consider it any other way. Bill also probably would have railed against Lee cheating on Dee. Things seem kind of black and white when it comes to Bill's views of Lee and I don't think he considered much about what Lee really wanted, believed, or felt about anything until Lee told him or someone made it obvious.
