Although I really don't think he had enough reason to agonize so much about the OC (because it was, unfortunately, the right thing to do), I love that he doesn't shy away from the responsibility. It would be too easy, especially in a military context to hide behind "obeying orders". In real life we see that too often. So, even if it is in fiction, it's refreshing to see a soldier aknowledge that regardless of the order, at the end of the day, you always have a choice and therefore, you share responsibily.
The fact that Adama, who was always so military driven, would not only see that his son would be burdened by that action but would also try to relieve it ... I really like him in moments like this. *sigh*
