I may have to watch the episode again to remember what Billy did there (aside from being all juvenile and suggesting Dee went with them just so he could flirt with her). But something tells me I might get distracted again... :) It would be worth it, though. This is one of my favorite Lee episodes.

exactly. why did he ever thought that going on a prison ship (and taking the woman that he liked/dated/whatever) might be a good idea. all in all i sort of liked Billy but this move was very bad. and why did Laura agreed to this when she knew why he suggested Dee? it's a mystery to me.
I was always under the impression that Billy was sent along to reinforce the idea that Laura Roslin as the President was the ultimate authority within the fleet. Laura didn't have a lot of staff at this point in time, but letting the group that went to the Astral Queen be entirely military when negotiating on a point of civil law could set a dangerous precedent... after all, the more authority you give away, the harder it is to get it back once it's gone.
Or maybe someone had a sense of humour, and thought that Billy was exactly what all those prisoners would like to see after those weeks in isolation, not to mention long prison sentences...
