And then he sees that it's Dom's crew and the annoyance fades. He stands up a little straighter, pleased as punch that Dom would grace them with his presence, even if the street-racer preferred the drag racing.

"Go on. We're just here for the show." Because he wasn't going to compete against his girl. He wanted to see what she could do first. See how well it went.

Leawyn's hands flex on the steering wheel and she focusses on the race. When the flag drops, she and the other two are off...

The other guy - yes, guy - salutes, nods and smiles at Dom and heads off. And before the street racer can ask, Leawyn's saying, "Turn eight's pretty bad. He mis-judged his drift and nearly slammed me into the wall. I was quick on the break, though, and he over-shot me and traded paint with the wall."

He seems unsure of who to give the cash to, Leawyn or Dom. They way he sees, it, if she's part of Dom's crew, it goes to him. If she's not - which, when put next to the fact that they're practically clinging to each other, makes it a silly notion - it goes to her.
Amusing? We think so.
