Free journals get 100 icons, access to polls, S2 layouts/styles, and best of all NO ADS.

Did you mean 'paid' journals? :)

What kind of community is over there? Is it quite varied or are there certain kinds of journals that are more common? Fandom-oriented for example? I'm thinking of starting a writing journal (fiction, news articles, historical essays), would that be a good fit? Thanks :)

Inksome tries its best to cater to fandom, as it was started by fandomers in response to Strikethrough '07, but it's home to all kinds of people just looking for a place to not have to worry about what they write.

I personally keep my own writing journal there!
