[So there's a familiar-looking guy with a hat waving down below, alone in the street pretty much because it's around evening; roll of the eyes, the people here are damn near creepy with how helpful they are.

A couple minutes later he's out on the street, looking slightly peeved in his ripped leather jacket and looking forward to getting a change of clothes and more chocolate. And ammo, please.]

I guess we head down the Boulevard. [raises an eyebrow; it's not quite a question, but the shops aren't actually marked on the map]

I guess so. You're a lot...

[He stops to look him over and come up with the right word.]

...Shorter than I thought.

[Whatever way there is to give Mello a good impression of you, THAT IS NOT IT. -9000 points, Johnny.]

... Is there a problem with that? [flatly, have a glare from the guy with no eyebrows]

Oi, oi, calm down. I was just amazed, is all. Let's roll.

[He decides to walk a little ahead of him]

So tell me about yourself. What's it like in your world?

[Annoyed to be looking at the guy's back. Annoyed at everything right now, actually, since he hasn't had chocolate in a bit. Speaking of which--

CRINKLECRINKLE SNAP. A little chocolate goes a long way.]

My world? It's normal. Humans come and go and live and die. Pretty boring. [No talking about Kira yet. And Sora's right, he doesn't like answering questions when he doesn't have all the answers.] Yours?

Much the same, but on a different level. Humans are much less numerous, now. The wild reclaimed much of the Earth from the Old World, and technology isn't quite the same as it was back then. In some ways better, in some ways lesser.

That doesn't tell me anything, other than that technology went backwards and forwards at the same time. How about some actual concrete examples?

[This is about as pleasant as he's going to get at the moment, since he has chocolate.]

Well, I help run a massive airship that utilizes infinite energy and can fire energy cannons.

... [SNAP goes the chocolate]

... Wow. [Completely deadpan, because how are you supposed to react to a statement like that, honestly? All the same...] Infinite energy? You're shitting me.

You don't believe me?

That's irrelevant. But explaining the infinite energy'd be nice.

[They're probably nearer the shopping district now; Mello hasn't been rushing, exactly, but he's aware of what's in the streets, and nighttime is always a bad time to be out and about. He's keeping his ears peeled, only halfway on the conversation.]

Man discovered inherent magic energy in nature, a long time ago. It's clean, infinite energy that powers all major technology. Ships, houses, everything. All other fuels went out long before even the war.

That's... convenient. [Was probably the best way of putting it. Abruptly lowers his voice; it's a little too quiet around here at night, and there's very few lights; but it's not like he had a flashlight in the first place. Actually, what little light there is is coming from farther down the street, and none of the streetlamps actually work--]

... What is that?

OOC || Annnd we have a little pack of Shadows coming up the street. :]

...THAT, is trouble.

[Intercepts the first couple, slicing them up in a few quick, clean strokes]

At least I've had time to adapt to being weakened.

[BLAM, so the Shadows are pretty easily destroyable--quick bastards, melting in and out of the floor, but he's always had some of the best physical reflexes out of his entire generation

--once they seem to have all dissipated] ... Weakened? Is this about the powers again?

And what were those?

[Loathe as he is to admit it, having somebody to watch your back in this city isn't a bad idea at all. Lesson twice learned.]

One of many strange beasts roaming about. These are the weak ones. The tougher ones are farther out. They don't come near the main area.
