Technical note: If you're going to be posting many large pix, could you please post them behind an LJ cut? Tonite I have you and another dude doing this, and my LJ is slowing down to a crawl.
I did use LJ Cut in my posting as there were other large pictures and I didn't want to make the posting too long. I used about two or three pics before the cut and an embeded video - which may explain the slowdown. I don't notice LJ slowdown much... is your computer or internet connection bogged down? If so, it may be the reason your LJ is slow to a crawl or just LJ in general at the time.
