I continue to find the pen tool in Photoshop tedious at best. This is probably because I'm so used to it in Illustrator, though, where it's handled so much better. Makes sense, though, since it's the staple tool for that program, whereas it's really a novelty in Photoshop.
I really, really, really need to re-teach myself illustrator. I learned it in high school and absolutely loved it, but then never used it again and am now incredibly rusty.
The pen tool in photoshop is, yeah, definitely far from perfect. But its so much better than the lasso or magic wand when it comes to cutting things out, and it's great for creating sparkle trails. And I *love* sparkle trails.
That's a lovely icon. I do so miss your icons. ^_^ You could totally do a batch of WL for old time's sake. ^__^
I never thought of using it for cutting things out. Hrm. Or making sparkle trails, either. ^_^ Maybe I've just been going about it the wrong way. See, I've been trying to use it to draw as you do in Illustrator, and it really doesn't work for that. Can you even adjust the handles after you've placed an anchor? I tried and couldn't figure out how to manipulate the line once it was drawn.
