The problem is, I don't think there is a gender neutral word in English that has existed since the language existed. While English might not be a Romance language that feminizes and masculinizes everything, it still is difficult to find a gender neutral word in the language - without sounding like you're talking about an object. That's why zi/zhi/etc was made up... So that people could be gender neutral without being offensive. But obviously this person is a complete tool who doesn't understand that things are not always as they appear and is unwilling to cope with it. Therefore, they are a complete and utter waste of time.
