Edie you say? I've read that before, hm. Doesn't strike me very much like a German-Jewish name of that time, though. Hm. I could be wrong.
Ugh, and now I'm seeing what comments look like on the new LJ default layout. Weird. o.O

Yeah, Edie is the name I see the most. And you're right; the name itself is short for Edith or Edwina and is English. My guess is that Edie/Edith do sound a little as if they're from the Germanic Language tree, so who knows. Short of calling Stan Lee himself, yeah? ;)

And well, Erik is actually an old Norse name, so that's also really unconventional ^^ But maybe Erik's dad was a bit of a cosmopoloitan - it does make a lot of sense when you see how many languages Erik speaks, fluently or at least quite well. So I thought maybe his father used to travel and trade a lot, could speak several languages himself and taught Erik, because I don't quite think in those times one could pick several foreign languages in school (for as long as Erik was still able to go to one).
Errr... where was I? Oh right, the name. ^^ So yeah, maybe Erik's parents were a bit more modern and chose a name simply because they liked it and not because it was traditional.
Same COULD apply to Erik's mom, but I somehow liked to pick something a little more traditional for her.

I'm reeeeeeally picky when it comes to languages, so I always try to get a native speaker help me if it isn't German or English (though of course my English isn't perfect either, so I make mistakes there if I don't have a beta, but I suppose it's okay).
And thank you very much. I'm glad you're enjoying this one as well.
