It is for me. Whenever someone tells me to do what I want, I usually end up nowhere near where I wanted to be.

It's simple enough in that the act of advising me to do what I want makes me feel like I'm not doing what I want. The blurb was actually part of a longer post. But I usually write a post and then delete it before posting. This made it through.

I don't know if this would be any better of advice at all, but I no longer do what I want nor go out of my way to please others. I just go with the flow. Amazingly, so far this semester it seems to be working pretty well. I every once in awhile hit a major stumbling block where I have to swim upstream a bit to not, say, fail a course, but for the most part just letting go of the wheel and seeing where life takes me is refreshing.
