Spotlight Seeker

I did this about six months ago, and I love my current stamp, but I'm curious to see if it'll change now. :)

1. Name: Juli

2. Age (no one under 13, please): Fourteen. Yeah, I know. *Laughs*

3. Location: Alternately Worcester, Massachusetts, the most nothing-ish town in the Midwest, and my imagination.

4. Three positive adjectives to describe yourself: Creative, compassionate, quick-thinking.

5. Three negative adjectives to describe yourself: Stubborn, impulsive, avoidant (but I'm good at it! Avoiding things, I mean).

6. What is the significance/meaning/derivation of your username?: In HPPS/SS, Hermione conjures bluebell flames to set Snape's robes on fire, among other things. Hermione is one of my favourite literary characters ever, and for some reason, I remember really wanting to have a username that started with the word 'blue'. *Shrugs*

7. What is your favourite historical era, and why? I adore any historical era that claims knights, princesses, and general fairy-tale romanticism - and the Renaissance, because there was music and art and creativity everywhere. I love the 1960s folk-rock scene, too. I would have fit right in, minus the whole pot-smoking thing.

8. What historical, mythological, or legendary character do you most identify with, and why? I'm pretty sure I used this in my last application, but Elizabeth Bennet, if she counts. Being stereotypically ladylike - by her era's definition or ours - is highly overrated, and I've always found finding humor in (and occasionally getting very frustrated with) society's faults fun. Elizabeth is one of my fictional heroes, too, because I can only dream of being as clever as she is.

9. Favourite three books (exclude any based on musicals or that musicals are based on): To Kill a Mockingbird, the Truth About Forever, and either Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, This Lullaby, All-American Girl, the Princess Bride, Pride and Prejudice, or the Westing Game. Just pick one and pretend I only wrote down three - they're all fantastic.

10. Favourite three movies (exclude any based on musicals or that musicals are based on): Proof above - I can't pick just three of my favorite anything. Three of my favourite movies, though, are Finding Neverland, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and the Devil Wears Prada. For movies in general, if they're thought-provoking and have a really good soundtrack, chances are I'll love them.

11. Do you have any creative talents?: That depends on what you mean by "talent", I guess, but the only things I'm good at are creative, which pretty much guarantees me a career as a starving artist. I'm involved in a long-running love affair with anything literary - writing, reading, you know. I play the trumpet, act in everything I can get cast in, and sing and dance in my school's show choir, which is actually one of the best of its kind in the country. And I can say that without bragging, because it earned that reputation long before I was a member, and there are currently fifty-eight girls in the group. *Laughs* Graphic design is my absolute favourite way to procrastinate on the computer. A lot of the time, my issue is that I want to direct the show, star in it, and write the script all at once - literally and metaphorically.

12. Sing us a song (that isn't from a Broadway musical):

Losing My Religion - REM

Oh, life
Is bigger
It's bigger than you and you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh, no, I've said too much
I set it up

That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh, no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough

I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

Every whisper
Of every waking hour, I'm
Choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt, lost, and blinded fool
Oh, no, I've said too much
I set it up

Consider this
Consider this the hint of the century,
Consider this the slip
That brought me to my knees failed and
What if all these fantasies come
Flailing around - and now I've said
Too much

I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

But that was just a dream
Try, cry, why, try
That was just a dream, just a dream
Just a dream....

13. Anything else we should know?: Thirteen people each year are killed by vending machines, an estimated twelve of those thirteen on average were trying to force money out of the machine, and Dave Barry and Paul Simon are my heroes. :)

14. Please post at least three clear pictures of yourself:

I'm on the left.

The requisite I'm-acting-cheesy-wearing-my-friend's-sunglasses! picture.

Thanks for reading! :)
