Fires, storms and luck.

This morning it was sunny and warm so I did a load of washing then toddled off down the street to get some lunch. Just when I got back I saw a big column of smoke suddenly appear to the west so I went off to investigate and found out it was a factory around the back of shops on Sydney Road a bit north of Albion Street. Ah, we were wondering what was on fire. Once the storms came in, it whipped the wind around and we could smell the smoke. We figured it must be a factory or something like that because there was a distinct chemical/plastic smell to the smoke.

We got hailstones around 1-2cms. Big enough to make a lot of noise and freak my cat out but not enough to do any damage (except to my neighbour's head because he went out in it).

My shit got wrecked. I'm going to be staying with friends for at least a week while this place gets rebuilt. But I'll get through. Good luck!

Possible guess of where the smoke was from...

Huge factory blaze in Brunswick

A WORKER suffered burns trying to put out a fire that spread into a huge blaze at a carpet factory in Brunswick today.

A Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokesman said 50 firefighters and 14 fire trucks attended the blaze on Sydney Rd, near Tinning St, which started about 1.45pm.

He said it took about half an hour to bring the blaze under control.
