Coming out of the new Tintin film directed by Steven Spielberg, I found myself, for a few seconds, too stunned and sickened to speak; for I had been obliged to watch two hours of literally senseless violence being perpetrated on something I loved dearly.

I call TAZ an “alternate history” comic, sometimes. This is definitely gonna be one of those times that description really, really applies.

That flag on the coffee mug is real. Everything else coming up is definitely not.

This won't mean much to a lot of people who read this, but "Peyton Place" was the stand-in for soap operas in general when I was growing up. I never saw an episode, but whenever Mad magazine wanted to commit a bit of sarcasm about TV watchers, "Peyton Place" was the go-to show to use1.
