Hello, I've been trolling your Sharpe fics and am slow enough to only realise just now that you made the Sharpe/Wellington Waterloo video - I haven't been able to get that song out of my head in days! :)
Anyway, saw your friends only post here and thought I'd say 'Hi!' before I added you (because I love love love your fics! AND you're a Poirot fan! Brilliant! I must commend you on your fantastic tastes in fandoms! :D)
I've been meaning for ages to ask if I could friend you (since I saw you on clameron, to be exact)... and after skulking back onto your journal while looking for clues to a fandom authorship mystery ;) I saw that you've f-locked it and figured I'd better take the plunge. I am a fellow Russian expat, having lived first in DC, then in Milan and (now) Rome over the past 10+ years, but as my recent fandom shows, have had something of a love-hate relationship with the UK (more love than hate, I swear) for most of my life. And looking at your interests, I echo the above comment; I can't boast as many, but most of mine are surely in there. (hi five in particular re Sharpe, Russell Crowe, Jeeves & Wooster, Rafael Sabatini, and *remembers teenage years* Han Solo ;) ) My journal is relatively sparse as I tend to hang out on others' pages (and who am I kidding, am too lazy and introverted to post regularly) but I recall seeing yours pre-f-lock and finding it a great read. May I friend you?
Friended you too :) (I hardly ever post to my journal, though)
Italy was a conscious and very costly choice in terms of reduction in disposable income vs DC, but I have no regrets as this beautiful, slightly screwed-up country is well worth it. Should you ever find yourself planning a trip, do let me know. I was last in the UK in late September, sort of careening around on a week's holiday (but got together with a few friends from Lolitics in London); if it weren't for my still-Russian passport (long story) and UK visa that expired Friday, I'd be back this coming Wednesday for a meeting... but no use crying over it, I'll make it back later - and maybe we could meet for a drink then :)

And wow, Italy! I've been living in the UK for almost 11 years now and bar home and holidays haven't lived anywhere else.
