Tutorial -- default replacements

May 12, 2020 00:41

Hey guys! I've been working on writing a tutorial today :D It's still a work in progress, but I think the time has come for people to have a look at it.

It's friends only for now, I'll share with everyone when I'm sure it's 100% OK. This is working better than I'd thought, I'll share with everyone now!

Oh wow! I was just searching for this type of tutorial today, but didn't find anything. I'd really like to learn a new Sims skill, and this seems like a good one. :D

I got an email saying you replied here, but it's not showing up here :/ You did ask me this: "If your new outfit doesn't have a bump map, but the old outfit does, replace it with a grey one (RGB 128.128.128) Here's one."
I've just come across this situation, but how do you replace the bump map with the blank one??, right?

To replace the bump map, just click on the txtr file, rightclick on the image, choose Build DXT and open the grey image file. Click Build and put Format on Raw8Bit before you commit.

Does that help?

It really isn't hard to do. Once you've done it a few time, it's really quite easy :D

I'll be looking forward to what you come up with!

Shiny! Thank you so much. I can't wait to try this. I'll probably mess up, but I'll sure give it the old simmer try.

Umm something defaulted over Adult and Elder? Is their a way to make it only adult?

Ehm, you mean you've already got something that replaces both the adult and elder version? Well, it doesn't really matter, cos you're gonna have to start from scratch. Just replace the adult mesh and find the adult TXMT files and redirect those to your new texture files. Does that make sense?
