I stumbled on your post doing a Google search for something else entirely and I'm waaaaaaaay late, but I had to stop anyway just to tell you how much I agree. How could they write such an awesome, fantastic, perfect scene about kirk and Spock's relaitonship and never shoot it????? Worse, make it available online so we'd all know what we've missed? It should be criminal or something. To my dying day I'll wish this scene had been in the movie.

The one good point of this is, as you say, that it proves the writers are aware of Kirk and Spock being canon; I read an interview where they said ST XI was about "the love story betwwen Kirk and Spock", but I didn't feel it that way. But with this "deleted" scene in mind and the close, utterly dovted, so-obviously-more-than-friendship relationship it implies about K & S, I'm still hopeful for some slasable stuff in the future movies :).
