I firmly believe that our society has completely destoyed our confidence in our own bodies to create, birth and nourish our children.

I'm still so disappointed in myself for succumbing and getting the epidural.

Well, you made a valiant effort. It sounded like you made the best decision you could for what was going on at the time.

I don't think you should feel too disappointed. There's a *lot* of pain involved with a first baby, isn't there? And now you know that if/when you have a second child, you definitely don't want an epidural, and you can make that clear from the start.

Don't be disappointed. You were exhausted and wouldn't have had the energy to push without it. It was the best thing for you and your baby. You lasted a lot longer than most women.

Hi, I hope you don't mind my commenting here, I found you on the attachedparents community. Our children are the same age. I saw this entry and just wanted to say that I feel the same way. I was so determined to not have an epidural and to do everything natural, and I just caved. I wish I hadn't, but then I also know I couldn't have gotten through it at the time without it. Anyway, can I add you?

Hi :-) Feel free to add...though it's not a very interesting journal :-)

I'm pretty sure that if I'd had a midwife it would have worked out better, but Abigail hung out in the birth canal so long that I started to swell shut and they started throwing the 'C' word around. I certainly wasn't having any of that!
