the worst thing you ever bought

about twice a week, i think to myself, "this dishwasher is the worst purchase i have ever made." the combination of the $900 it took to get it installed, due to having to have it done by a plumber and having the plumber have to do something with my sewer return or something, plus the fact that it constantly leaves a residue on the dishes so that i ( Read more... )

Yes. A dishwasher, in fact. It wasn't that pricy but it has only two cycles and neither of them get the dishes clean.

mine wasn't that pricey either until they couldn't do the "free installation." i should have sent it back with them right then and there.

An easy one, this: the first car pennski and I bought after we got married. I can't remember what model it was but it was luminous green and we called it 'Masha', after a character in a Robert Asprin book who had a particularly colourful dress sense, We paid £250 (this was 1992 I think).

The first long trip we drove, it broke down on the way back about 4 miles from home. After that it never consistently ran after that and after we spent a lot of money on it (we were pretty poorly off at the time as well) we gave up. Eventually we gave it away to a friend who wanted to try and fix it up. We've never given a car a name since...

Secondly to that was an Austin Maestro I had about 15 years ago which cost several thousand pounds a year in repairs and I eventually part-exchanged it before I'd even finished paying back the bank loan for it.
