Vacation was lovely - I got to see my wonderful family for five days, made food & ate it with them and got to hang out for a day in a Barnes & Noble. Hooray for employee discounts! a moment for reflection / appreciation.
It has been crazy-nuts here - getting all the stuff together for the new shop, teaching classes, finding teachers, planning holiday travel & gifts & food - that I have literally been moving from one task to another without stop. Birdie Sling!
A recent class that was just completed - Amy Butler's Birdie Sling. It says "beginner" on the back of the pattern, but it's a little complicated in places. This class is the prerequisite for the Weekender Bag class that will be taught in the spring, which I really love. amish ahoy!
I just noticed that Janome makes a new treadle sewing machine specifically for the Amish community. Not only does that rock, it is perfect for my dream-off-the-grid-farmhouse! -
soon to have machines!
Very shortly (within the next few weeks), Sew L.A. will be carrying 3 models of Janome sewing machines for sale! I am super-excited - this is the culmination of a huge amount of research and testing. The two Threadbanger models and a Sewist 509 will start us off on this crazy path. I don't even know where we'll put them yet, but I just can't wait. ( Read more... )
