This is another world, but not a normal one. It's apparently some kind of cross roads between worlds. I
met several interesting people there.
A younger counterpart of Lan's named Netto. He said I had fourteen counterparts there or somesuch. Less than I thought, considering the number of universes that must exist. He also gave me another suggestion for what my nickname might stand for. I'll add it to the list. That's five now. He said something about adopting me? Heh.
Speaking of places to stay, a woman named Leviathan offered me a place. I'll have to see if I can find her again and take her up on that. She seemed fairly concerned. She must know one of my counterparts or something.
There was also a strange mechanical woman who said she was a medic and offered help. Hn. I think she was the only one I met not from a world similar to mine. Except for that other guy I didn't recognize.
Two Blueses (apparently that's what ProtoMan's counterparts are called.) The first one gave me some good advice. I think it'll be difficult to see both sides of this, but I'll try my best.
The second one told me why everyone said the Nexus was safe--no one can be harmed unless they consent to it. He's also been turned human by the place. ProtoMan seemed very interested by this. I'll have to try and avoid becoming a cat, though.
...I also met someone who said he was an alternate of my father. I don't think I reacted too well. He said there was counterparts of my mother around too. It seemed to bother him, and it bothers me too. I hope I don't run into too many counters of my parents. (Shame on Enzan-five. There is too a way to shorten 'counterparts'!)
Finally, I met five counterparts.
The first one is staying on a different world as well. Without his Navi, for some reason, who seems to be a Blues and female from what he said. The first Enzan I met. He was a bit cheerful, but he seems to be smarter than he acts.
The second one had red hair. He mentioned some things called Dimensional Areas and Cross Fusion and explained them a little. Apparently the name Netto gave him was 'En-san' for some reason. He also warned me about the food and mysterious things around the Nexus.
The third one was younger than me, maybe ten or eleven? He seemed a bit curious about the abilities I have and wary when I called it a disease. It isn't contagious though, not as far as I know.
The fourth one was very young, couldn't have been more than seven. He's under the belief thermometers cure everything. Heh. He also seemed interested that ProtoMan was a hologram. The showboat then started acting silly and the young Enzan seemed amused by that.
The fifth one was around the same age as the third. He seems to have an attitude problem. He was the one who homed in on the fact that I used to be a mage hunter. Of course, he was the only one I told, and it kind of slipped out...he made me very edgy. I am not a murderer, I did it to help people! There could've been innocents hurt or killed if I didn't do something! He called me a hypocrite and I couldn't really argue back, since I have no idea whether he's right. He seemed under the impression I would hurt him for disagreeing with me. Hardly. I don't harm innocents. He seemed irritated by ProtoMan's attitude too. I tried to
correct his mistake later but he wouldn't listen. So I just won't deal with him for now. Or tell anyone else, although he doubtless will.
I wonder what rubs people the wrong way when I mention that? It's what I was raised to believe--I didn't think it could be wrong. I never even dreamed it until I met Iris. She told me I had powers. Didn't phrase it like they would've if they'd tested me, didn't say 'you're infected', but told me I had powers. She must too, to know that.
I wonder how long this has been affecting me? How long have I been infected? It can't be long, they'd have detected it in one of my medicals otherwise. They would've done something if they'd known...
Right?
Finished typing, he stored the file away in the data folder, then stood up and stretched, glancing around. ProtoMan appeared on his shoulder.
"Are we ready to go?"
"I think so," he scanned the area for the blue mechanical, then called out. "Leviathan?"
