Thanks to everyone for their good wishes after the last post. I really appreciated your kindness.

This is a story I started almost two and a half years ago. Finally off the hard drive! Thanks to kennahijja for a wonderful beta job, twice.

Fantastic. I liked your drawing of the somewhat edgy relationship between Moody and Remus (and the ambiguity over how far Moody's attitude towards Remus is personal, werewolf, or just general), and the little sketches of the suspects. I now want the sequel in which we learn more about why Remus thinks the residual magic business is 'interesting'.

Thank you! I think the 'interesting' comes from my view of Remus as genuinely curious about the way the world works - he has a love of learning. He would find it interesting. Moody is much more functional in his approach. Since he can't see a use for it, he discards it.

So good to finally have a chance to read this.

Werewolves can kill Muggles but they can't infect them. Grindelwald's experiments in the Black Forest proved that.

It's details like this that I really like, because they give me something to think about and add so much depth to the piece. The reference to Snowdonia interfering with wizarding magic is another one!

He took another swallow of his tea, hoping it wouldn't touch the sides on the way down.

Having a dim moment; does this mean the tea's horrible?

Perfect!

And then I got all caught up in the detective story, and it was excellent. Funny, when Moody listed the suspects, I thought the Muggle teacher was the obvious one, but then during the interviews you did a great job of deflecting attention away from her. I really liked the dynamic between Moody and Remus, too.

Great stuff - lovely to see more of your writing!

Read this based on lyras's rec and it definitely didn't disappoint. Great use of the detective genre -- Remus and Moody fit the part of the investigators perfectly, and the story has some nice twists and turns in it. I love the background on Moody's injuries and the Wolfsbane, and Remus's cynicism. Great job.
