Things I learned this morning

I was listening to NPR this morning, and they had a little story about The Peanuts' Charlie Brown Christmas. Did you know that CBS almost didn't run the show at all, because they hated the music that Lee Mendelsohn had chosen? And that they also didn't like the idea of using untrained children as voice actors, and they weren't comfortable with ( Read more... )

The answers to life are in Peanuts. I wait to hear Linus' speech each year to find the true meaning of Christmas.

CONGRATUMALATIONS!!! That's awesome, Lizzy. I love Boston. Boston and San Francisco are easily my two favorite U.S. cities (though I've only flown through Chicago and everyone says it's amazing.) Still, I'm a Yank at heart, and Boston will always be the city where I feel most at home.

We'll have to watch Charlie Brown Christmas tonight. We have it on tape, but seeing it on TV is even better. There was something really special about having to wait all year to see the Christmas specials, and when they started you knew it was really Christmastime. We play the soundtrack endlessly this time of year. I think the Peanuts were integral in nuturing my future commie tendencies, along with M*A*S*H. Good times. xx

Chicago IS awesome. I'd move there in a heartbeat.

Congratulations LD on the new job. I love Charlie Brown too, my heart used to go *ping* when his little tree would lose all of it's needles. I also loved the kite eating tree stories. I bought several of those cartoon books and used to sit and laugh my head off. Of course my family thought there was something seriously wrong with me but obviously they have no sense of humor. ;)

Another sign of the holidays for me was watching the Wizard of Oz.

It never failed, C...even though I knew what was going to happen, it always made me sad when his little tree lost its needles... :\

We always watched the Wizard of Oz at Easter...
