^__^ Oh, do I ever feel your pain, 'cause I've made these MANY TIMES. Ace Hardware. Do you have the chain in your area? 'Cause they carry wooden wheels up to 3"! AND cheap dowels, and all sorts of goodies that other places don't. Why a hardware store, I have no clue; if you don't have Ace in your area, check out some of the others and maybe you'll find 'em there too. One other possibility: look for hobby-stores, the kinds that are solely inhabited by guys who do model plans, cars and trains (and man, when you go in one of these they look at you exactly like you're some sort of dangerous alien animal-- "OMG ITS A FEMALE"), because sometimes they carry stuff to make *wooden* train sets, wagons, etc.
