I am still an initiate to the frustrations wonders of shawl knitting. What exactly does this mean? I took a look at some of her other patterns and they're gorgeous but SCARY. Have you done one of her patterns or KALs before? Are they scary? I've never done a KAL before... Sounds intriguing. But do I understand correctly that we pay money to be a part of this?
circular shawl as in, it forms a circle and it's worked in the round. Like a ginormous doily.
and I haven't done any KAL before but it's free and people seem to like her stuff. (the point mostly being, if you get stuck you have a bunch of people at approximately the same place in the pattern to puzzle it out with.) Joining the knitalong itself is free but after the thing ends you have the option of buying the complete pattern at a reduced price. because you're test-knitting it for free, obv
This is why I don't really care about the crocheting communities and such, they're all OMG LION BRAND THAT IS SO GHETTO, and God forbid you mention that you are using or have ever used Red Heart anything. I LIKE LION BRAND, exqueeze me for not using $1000000-a-skein virgin unicorn mane fur yarn or whateverthefuck.
well, part of me understands that if you're going to be sinking 100 hours of your life into something, you should have the best available materials -- but on the other hand, some of the people I've seen on fiber comms are like GUYS LOOK HOW MUCH MONEY I HAVE TO SPEND ON MY HOBBY.
it's really kind of silly how passive aggressive the oneupmanship gets sometimes, too. "I have a lot of money to spend on yarn!" "Oh yeah? I have a lot of time AND money to spend on yarn!" ._.
. . . It's like the time I heard some people hitting on each other by providing documentation on the structure of extra-marital relationships in medieval times. Only not. x_x
'Scuse me, I'm just an anonymous lurker who wandered over here from Icka M Chif's lj. For the sake of the uneducated who are unused to the live action/ super sentai/ boy band cracktacity of supremeness, could you please explain what Arashi stuff everyone seems to be watching and a good general order for looking it up and watching it?
