I don't know what is really worse, that someone turned Tego into a girl or that they then made Tego and Ryo incestuous sibs. ....this same person had written one where Tego is trans, but in that one they were merely second cousins

I always end up being online asking people piteous questions like, DON'T THESE PEOPLE HAVE SIBLINGS? Seriously. I usually try to ignore them because what the hell, it's a mostly free internet and if they like it, that's their problem, and if we all liked the same things there wouldn't be enough to go around. I do kind of wonder a little uneasily how they came up with it, though.
(As an only child, let me just say that it can't be only us, it just can't.)
I'm all for free internet, and I really do sometimes wonder about the vociferously anti-het sentiments in fandom (a whole other story, granted) among other things, but lately I'm just cringing at all these, "I don't like yaoi so pretend they're girls" disclaimers. Like, um, maybe stay away from fandoms that are blatantly homoerotic by nature? idek.
I'm so surprised Fandom wasn't on last week's list of modern sins.
let me clarify, I was not aware he was markedly more girly than any of his coworkers. I mean, he works with guys who wander around in public in nail polish and skirts!
Although in all fairness it's only been recently that I've been able to tell NEWS apart, so.
*cries* Are they aware that incest between siblings of opposite sex is even worse than between siblings of the same sex, since they have the possibility of having mutant babies? Also, WHY?
Fandom really seems to like doing awful things to Ryo. Or having him do awful things to other people.
now you know that earth logic is just crazy, Ilana!
I don't even know. It does seem that there's a big tendency in fandom to do mean things to characters you like - not just in JE, but all around - which has always puzzled me. If you like a character, why are you writing fics where they suffer? and then have it end badly? the classic example I'm thinking of is in CCS fic, where people would write angsty fic about Touya and Yukito or Syaoran and Sakura and then they'd just sort of drift off and never talk to each other.
I always thought it was just thinking "oh god my life", especially when a few episodes later someone is like, hey, isn't this the one you had the fling with, Matsujun? Sometimes it gets together with mannequins from other JE shows and compares horrible things that they've had to do in the name of work.
Basically it is just like another employee, only they don't have to give it a paycheck.
And then I could gouge my eyes out. ;_; I should have known from the author's note not to even start reading the fic. OMFG Fandom please no more incest AUs.

Opinion on people who are squicked by slash but not by heterosexual (possibly dubiously consensual) incest GO!
