This was written for the saiunkoku_fic contest but I don't think it got more than two votes, which was depressing but not entirely unexpected. I kind of liked how it ended up, though.

Oh, what a beautiful little vignette. The secret garden with a brother hidden inside... how like Seien! Great characterizations (Shuuei's POV works quite well - he's so detached and calculating until Ryuuki touches him somehow, the last line works quite well.)

Yay, I guessed correctly! The Seien/Ryuuki moment is sweet, and I love how they seem to belong only to each other and no one else. ^_^

The aggravating thing was that of the people who DID comment on it, about half commented on Ryuuki. It made me want to punch them a little because the point of the fic was not supposed to be about Awww widdle abused Ryuuki!

Heh, the thing I love about this one is the peaceful atmosphere that's so... Secret Garden-ish.

Also the mental image that the last line gives me, of Shuuei bowing low to Ryuuki and leaving them alone, makes me squee.

What I love the most of this fic, I think, besides the always adorable picture of Seien and Ryuuki, is Shuuei's personality, his... okay, sorry, Shuuhei, you might not know about Denial, but it's not just a river darling, and how he thinks about kicking Seien's ass next time and enjoy it very, very much having another duel to show How Things Are.

I also love how deep inside are the teaching of his family and his obligations. Better yet how, at the end, when Ryuuki looks at him, he kind of backs away from his family's obligations to leave the princes alone. Amazing job! *adds to memories*
