I've found through experience that anytime the phrase "REALLY, Victorians?" can be uttered, the answer is almost inevitably "YES."

Also ideas about marriage at the time were really much less along the lines of "equal partners" and much more along the lines of "father and daughter" (or, at the very least, "tutor and pupil"). Which, ick, but it doesn't surprise me that this book exists.
