I highly recommend, when going to Eugene on the train, pop for the extra $5 to take Business Class...fewer people, plug for your laptop and you get a $3 coupon for the cafe car. Plus you load first! :-)

Have you tried a light box? I have one and the thing is INTENSE. Although, given our collective luck, the intensity is also "more likely to provoke migraine headaches and nausea in pale-skinned redheads," which I think covers us both. I didn't find out that part of the warning until I'd already ordered myself the thing without benefit of insurance because I couldn't get the right doctors through the right signing-hoops, though. But I'm glad I stuck it out.
The recommendation on mine says half an hour at 12-16 inches away from your eyes. That just about killed me. Now I put mine across the room for a couple hours, because it's still Really Damn Bright (and my cat absolutely loves 'sunning' himself in front of it despite it not putting off any heat, so I'm not the only one it works on :D).
