Now, now - Judith didn't cut his head of "for the fun of it", honest. They were sort of threatening to annihilate her town and all. But Danny being a class latke maker is awesome!!
I must admit to being deeply confused what latkes have to do with ovens (Did you mean stove?), but oh my gosh as a Jew I also have to say: EEEEEEE Hannukah!! I am so happy right now you have no idea.
Re: the making of latkes, YES, latkes are ridiculously simple to make, and one of the most pointless things to have a mix for in the history of mixes (seriously, there are latke mixes. They don't even have eggs in. I have no idea how this is supposed to save time, or effort.). They do not, however, keep/reheat well, and really ought to be eaten while still hot and fresh from the pan, so sending some back with Gracie might not have worked out all that well.
