title: We Used to Talk pairing: kirk/spock rating: G disclaimer: yeah, no. summary: it's like the twins in the spaceship. notes: god i hate writing vulcans Q_Q x-posted to hell and back, sry
That? That was awesome. I *love*, That's acceptable. Maybe it wouldn't be to Jim, if there was two Jims and only one Spock, but Vulcans know how to share limited resources. (Except it should be "if there were two Jims".) So very Vulcanly-logical and yet kinda touching at the same time. (He totally just isn't mentioning how he can't deny "himself" some access to Jim, right?) :D
how to express the complex inner emotional life of someone who has two settings, "ice cube" and "HOLY SHIT IT'S A VOLCANO GET IN THE CAR GET IN THE CAR"?
....Aaaand right there we have the reason I have not yet attempted any Trekfic. Much as I ♥ Spock, I am SO not confident about trying to write him. (Actually, I'm not yet confident about trying to write any of them; otherwise, there would be Bones!snippets. I think I need to see it at least once more -- preferably with a pen and notepad -- before I'll be confident enough, though.)

"Wait, I thought humans engaged in emotional displays to comfort others during stressful situations?"

No, that can't turn out well at all.

Also, Uhura getting a reality check. She's kickass, but Spock's clearly not emotionally compromised with her. ;-)

I think your description of Spock as either an ice cube or volcano is very apt.
