I was in a "free period" in high school. 9th grade. And my friends and I went into a classroom to watch the coverage on the tv.

Sad day.

I was standing in the Rotunda at my university watching on a portable TV they had brought in. I'm not sure I have EVER seen our chaplains descend on a group quite so fast (yes, we had a whole department of them, being a religiously affiliated school). All of my classes for the next few days were devoted to processing. One of the smarter things my university ever did.
