(I couldn't find maincontent/alpha or the sidebar/beta. May I ask where exactly those are in the code?)

So it depends on which layout you used.

For the Flexible Squares layout they would be:
maincontent & sidebar

For Expressive it would be:
alpha & beta

Looks like you are using Flexible Squares so maincontent is towards the beginning of the code under the content area.

sidebar is down lower under the footer coding.
