Layout Lounge Website Down

Aug 02, 2019 12:29

Just a heads up. I was using a Weebly site for a lot of the coding ect I used on this site. I would share the different coding for the Google fonts I loved among other things. Weebly changed some things over on their site and it resulted in the Layout Lounge site being removed. They informed me we were violating TOS but it was really them trying to ( Read more... )

Bummer :( Thanks for still trying to make it work! Your codes are among my favorites here on LJ.

Thank you. I will take you up on that because I haven't done it in a really long time and I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing most of the time. Structure is my issue. I don't know if I'm setting things up correctly. I tend to be a person who can alter the code I'm given and figure out fun ways to do things but I don't like starting from scratch.

LJ I'm 100% up on so I get that coding but I've made 1 site from scratch and that was so long ago things aren't even close to the same now. It was before responsive design which I only know a little about. The navigation is the biggest issue I'm having because I can't seem to get it not to move things down on the page.

how are you doing it?
my advice for structure is -> for every section make a new css and a new html file to correspond to each other; it‘s easer to keep track of
and the responsiveness is fairly easy archived as long as you have everything in boxes -> boxes are kinda important now though
for the navigation the nav bar works best most of the time, depending on your overall style
we can totally talk over it in pm‘s
or my email is smirkingcat[at]yandex[dot]com
helping without seeing code is rather difficult i noticed when i started the reply
also are you using any tools -> because especially for bigger websites having the right tool is always helpful (but then you are a pro so i totally believe you have that under control and this was just my random thought process)

So I did a ton of research and ended up going with a hosting service and using Wordpress. I wanted to avoid it but it had most of the features I need. And with all their plugins I can do a lot. So coding is less of an issue thankfully. Once I got going with the builder and plugins things have been going up fast. I don't think I'll be recreating Layout Lounge's site but I had 2 fan sites I want up.

Yeah, I know a lot of that but the idea of starting from scratch and coding was giving me nightmares. Plus I always feel those sites (when I make them) are held together with string.

I thought my sites were rather small and have since figured out they were not (well LL was but not the others). I needed the plugin help. I can do html and CSS but java is just beyond me.

Thank you so much for the assistance. Just having someone to talk to about it is so helpful. I'm going to screen your comment to protect your email but believe me I'm going to call on you if I need help. But I think I have it covered.

It will be far easier on you to have a layout and change it to what you need.

I have some tutorials that explain different aspects of my layouts (Flexible Squares Layouts). This could help you if you are using one of mine. Go to this post: https://layout-lounge.livejournal.com/51687.html (sidebar link Tutorial Index) and towards the bottom of the post is the Series on creating a layout. This will give you an idea of what you are doing. Hopefully.

My layouts are inspiration but I full expect people to change things up. That is why I have my tutorials to empower you all to be creative.

And should you need help feel free to ask.

Thanks. So far the site is going well.

Let me know if you just need someone to talk things out with. I know it helps to just run an idea past someone to see if I'm doing things correctly.

Hi there,

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I found a layout among your treasure trove of layouts I would really like to install. This one called Oxygen: https://layout-lounge.livejournal.com/47657.html

Unforutnately I'm not having much like with installing Flexible Squares. It seems the template has been pulled from the template store on LJ? I tried searching for "Autumn" and "Yati Mansor" as well but no luck. Can I use another template for this layout?

Thank you for all the wonderful work you do. :)

Hi again, I just saw your post on the 1st October that LJ stopped supporting Flexible Squares. I'm so sorry, I know most of your gorgeous layouts relied on that template. :(
Will you be able to tweak the code to work with another template? I'm wishing you luck and sending you positive vibes!
