I am pretty sure my mother did not eat duck, and my toes are webbed anyway. Also, the Korean fans and A/C issue is pretty weird.

Well, the a/c thing is because there are a lot of chemicals, I believe. But, given the choice between chemicals and passing out on the floor from heatstroke, I'm gonna pick a/c.

Hmm. Maybe it's because A/C units contain fans? The chemicals in the A/C shouldn't leak out, and they're the same as the ones in your refrigerator, which no one appears to object to using.
The whole list sounds very traditional-superstitious. I support your use of air conditioning and fans. Also, there are plenty of good sources of iron besides seaweed.

You can totally eat brie and feta as long as it is PASTEURIZED first. I did.

I didn't know such a thing existed...

My Korean is good enough to figure out WHAT most of the foods I am eating are, but not always good enough to figure out how they are prepared. I think I had better play it safe.

I (for whatever reason) have read about how people in Korea have an irrational fear of fans: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_death... )

Yeah, I am hoping people will get over the whole fan death superstition soon. It is kind of fascinating, though. Koreans have a tendency to open the windows when the heater is on, too, a leftover habit from the days they burned charcoal to warm the houses and figured out that they had to open windows if they didn't want to die of carbon monoxide poisoning ( ... )
