See I think the dream is actually telling you to get a cat. Because clearly it is saying that the cat would either manage to take care of itself or make you take care of it--cats are very expressive when they want something. It's just trying to figure out what they want that is the fun part, sometimes they just want a nice warm leg to sink their claws into. Get a kitty... you know you want one. You can bring it back to the US when you move back.

You can if you get a passport for them! And they have to be quarantined for a certain amount of time upon arrival.

You can get a cat...but I can't stay with a cat for more than a few hours. And if your big plan is to come move back in when you come back, passport or no, there will no kitty in my apartment!

Dude, just get a snake. :-) Make sure you bring a translator so you know if it's poisonous or not. Do you need a passport for a snake?

amelias father was allergic to cats. he married a woman with 3 cats. he is no longer allergic. how much do you love your sister?

I never really believe the "I was allergic and then I wasn't" stories. In short, no amount of love is going to change the fact that my eyes swell shut when I'm near a cat. Some people have asked, "What did the cat ever do to you?" when I say I'm allergic. That seems irrational, because the cat doesn't have to DO anything, just be there. I don't understand cat lovers. I do understand reptile and amphibian lovers though! Layna wanted a snake, and I say she should get one. She can name it Adam.

Also, when I'm dating a guy and he has cats, normally I back off of that relationship...

I'm not yet comfortable enough with the semi-permanency of this arrangement to get ANY sort of pet, so it's not a worry. I know it is possible to get pet rabbits, fish, cats, and small dogs. I have not yet seen pet snakes for sale. We'll see how it goes.
