if you have the Internet at home, I'd recommend using Skype instead of a phone. It's free to talk to other people on Skype.

Yeah actually now that you are stealing internet, you could totally just buy the headset and skype today.

If it's feasible, I'd totally suggest going home for Christmas. It's a) a really hard time to be alone, and b)imo a good period of time from now. You'll have been there long enough to settle in, but still probably be missing home. And all the ritual we set up around Christmas makes it a very family-important time. It's the one time I will absolutely always go home, even if I don't make it any other time of year.

I asked my boss about that, and she said it would be really hard, cause I only have the 25th and 26th off for Christmas, no other time. I might still try, but... And at ReadingTown, when public schools have vacation, I work OVERtime.
