I finally understand something that has been annoying me for months. Since August, in fact. Now, I have a big problem with the dynamic between black and white students on this campus. Black students are annoyed with white people's stupidity, while white people are defensive for being prematurely judged or for being punished for their naivete. ( Read more... )

Okay, I am not as enlightened as I thought I was yesterday. But here's the issue. Kelly doesn't get upset if someone wants to get to know her as a person, and as a black person on Smith campus INTEGRATED into her person. She does get upset if someone makes it clear that she has labeled Kelly as a black person on Smith campus, before anything else, including what her name is ( ... )
