Mom

I'm not sure if my Mom likes it here in LA. She's already talking about her lease being up and how she'll drive back with her friend across country. It's a lot on me because I want her to be happy but there's only so much I can do. I can't replace all of her friends from Orlando and I also can't help her with the high cost of living here. I'm ( Read more... )

I saw an ad for that show. It looks as if they are trying to get as close as possible to the "is that your final answer" line.

Oh, absolutely! It's a total attempt to get that kind of prime time, big money game show back on the air. It worked for me, I like it. :)

.

Friends are so important, and the older I get the more, I realize it's harder to make them. Everyone has so much going on in their lives.

However, just getting out there is the key I think. Dances classes, charity walks, anything. It's amazing what can happen when one leaves room in their life for it.

It's very true. Volunteer work is a good idea. I will also mention to her the dance class idea. She actually loves to dance. Thanks!

I caught the tail-end of that show last night and told J, "I don't think I could take the pressure."

I know, watching it once made my husband's acid reflux act up. :-) I love that stuff. I hate scary movies but I like shows like that.

When I first moved to LA I didn't know anyone and had a hard time finding time to meet people, much less make friends. This town is sooo big and spread-out its very hard to connect. I hated it and wanted to move.

I joined an on-line group called MyPeopleConnection that "connects you to the many". There's an online calendar that people post events that you can sign-up for. Like movies, whale watching, spa trips, shopping sprees, restaurant outings, knitting circles and on and on. The age group runs from mid-twenties to late fifties, with the core member ship being mid-thirties to mid-forties.

I've been a member for over 2 years now and have made a lot of friends - some of them quite close. I'm rather liking LA now.

That sounds like a great site. I'll have to find something like that for my Mom who is 62. A senior version of that type of thing. Thanks!
