Naptime

Jul 06, 2006 21:29

I left work early today to take care of speeding ticket for someone. It didn't take as long as I had anticipated, so I got home at 4. I took a nap until 6:30. It was lovely. I think naps are one of the most relaxing things on the planet. I bet if more people took naps, there would be less war ( Read more... )

OMG, if it's not bows, it's stupid Peter Pan collars like we're LUCILLE BALL for crying out loud and it's 1950 something. Not that I've ever been pregnant, but I've certainly been maternity shopping with enough friends to be indignant on their behalf.

And I hate doctors that are vague. I'm glad you got to get things clarified with your friend.

I hear you on the Peter Pan collars. It's really demeaning.

I'm going to have to be more forceful with my doctor I think. Communicate my expectations a little more clearly.

I did go look at maternity clothes once with my sister. We were looking for something she could wear to my wedding. So much badness. My sister's a little thing, even pregnant. She tried on this one thing with a large collar and a big ribbon tie across the chest; she looked like a head floating on top of a platter with a foofy bow underneath. Ay yi yi.

I'm disappointed in your doctor, too. I would have totally freaked out at the mention of "could be a problem." Glad your friend was able to clear everything up. I know doctors are completely overwhelmed these days, but couldn't she have taken a little more time with you?

LOL, your poor sister. I can only envision the dress she tried on.

I thought the doctor could have spent more time too. I'm going to be a little more firm on my next visit, hopefully.

Maybe it's to get your mind primed to buy all the way-too-cute little baby-toddler-preschool clothes. Sheesh, shouldn't babies be adorable on their own merits? I think your friend's right though; it's the fashion world denying that pregnant women might want to look and feel sexy. Not just sexy, powerful.

Your doctor was that preoccupied? And in OB where a talent for patient relations is vital? Shit.

Strangely, I'm okay with ridiculously cute baby clothes. I just don't want to look like one too.

I think my doctor has the personality of a kumquat. I'll just have to figure out the rotation schedule and cross my legs so I don't deliver on one of her days.

:hugs:

I hope you like one of the other doctors better. You should dump her. You still have 20 weeks to go. I know baby is fine though. Yay for Amy!

ONE POUND? Are you serious? I hardly gained anything the first trimester, and now I have gained 14 total. I'm starting to scare myself a little, but I'm grateful it's all in the belly. Which, by the way, FLAUNT IT, SEXY MOMMY!

Have a happy, restful, wonderful weekend!

Well, you started out your pregnancy at a healthy weight. I might have been a bit on the too many french fries side, lol. So, my doctor said she thinks I should only gain 10 to 15 pounds. But really, I haven't purposefully restricted my food intake. I'm just not as hungry and I can't eat as much when I do eat. So I think the portion control is making a big difference.

I wore one of my new maternity shirts to work today. Yup, totally looked pregnant. One of the secretaries told me pregnancy agrees with me and I glow. She also said I seem way more serene and even-tempered. As if I was bad-tempered to start with. *snort*

Bows seem to be very big on maternity clothing.

My first two pregnancies I was working, so I had to wear the blouses and dresses with the bows. And oh my goodness, they were very bow-y and frou-frou-y twenty five years ago. By the time I was pregnant with Natascha I wasn't working and I pretty much wore sweats and tee shirts the whole time. It was lovely.

With all the things that should and could be irritating during pregnancy, your doctor shouldn't be on that list. It sounds like you got a dud.
