I'm glad my links from the lando_daily newsletter were so helpful! Isn't the new series info exciting? I'm so happy to see ITV doing great promo material.
The new series info IS exciting - I will have to finish reading it over the weekend. (I only read Freema's and Dominic's interviews, and the one with Emilia so far.)
I'm really happy to read that she's happy and that Alesha's going to be kicking more arse than before. Also good to know that James won't be forgotten -- I'm going to miss Ben Daniels (and the James/Alesha dynamic) big time so even if there's not a lot of mention of him, I'm thrilled that Freema will be playing it in a way that will be indicative of his being gone. It would have sucked massively if they just inserted a new character and everyone just went on as if nothing had changed.
I'm happy too. I know I'm used to the whole ensemble cast, people come and go thing that Who has going on, but I wasn't sure how it'd play out on LOUK. I really *didn't* want them to treat it as if James had never been there, or had 'just' been her senior colleague. It's been clear from the outset that James is Alesha's mentor and that they make an excellent team so I wanted some reflection of that in the show.
(And yes, gonna miss James/Ben so much - he's such a towering presence on the screen...)
And yes, it'll be great to see Fivey and Martha together! :D (I loved the fact that she said Peter 'scooped' her up and made her part of his family when they were both at the Monte Carlo TV Festival - that somehow seems very typical of many of the actors who played earlier Doctors.)
I don't watch any of the US Law & Order shows so while I know they have a revolving door of characters (at least the original show), I don't know how they've dealt with it in the past, so was a bit concerned it might be like James was never there at all or just some guy who didn't really make a dent. So this is good news. (Better news would be that he never left at all but I respect his choice to move on careerwise).
I am very happy to see Peter in a regular capacity again. Five is my fave Doctor and I'm a fan of nearly all his other work so this is plus. Seeing him work with Freema? Even better. I've also heard good things about Dominic (particularly with the reviews from his working with Damian Lewis in The Misanthrope) so hopefully there will be much chemistry between the three of them. (And hopefully this will also make it easier to deal with Jamie Bamber's departure however and whenever that actually happens.)
No, I don't watch the US shows either. I'd heard about the 'revolving' characters though, and found it both amusing and ironic that Freema's the one who's still there, while both the CPS 'boys' have bailed.
I'd rather Ben hadn't left, but it's his career. (Just so long as they don't bring James back to play defence again, as Dominic suggests in his interview - because I'd consider that a betrayal after James defected from defence to the CPS in the first place - but it's possible Dominic doesn't know that since he's not been watching the show.)
I think Jamie's leaving part way through the run of 13 episodes they filmed.
I'm so looking forward to the return; they're advertising it a little on BBC, but now BBC-America has a joke commercial about the network as the Bamber connection because Jaimie Bamber is in three shows and he's such a hottie. It was very nice to hear Freema's story of how Davison and his family took her in. I will still miss James, but it sound like Alesha shall have plenty to do this season.
