For The Boiling Challenge

This is almost too literal, I know!

CI, 100 words. (And written for CV, who gets on my case 'cause now I have to see everything in re-runs.)



Jaw grinding, eyebrows drawn, a fist curled tight against his jaw. Mike Logan was known for his rages, for the anger that exploded into shoves, slaps, and punches.

This was worse.

“Mike.”

He turned, flashed teeth. “What?”

“Let it go.”

Mike leaned back, hissed a breath. The anger bubbled out, over, spilling like boiling water dousing a fire. He felt better. Not good, just better.

“Thanks.”

“Watching my own back, Mike. Don’t want you taking a swing at me.”

“You? Never,” Logan promised, as his partner slid in.

“Mike? Who are you talking to?”

He could still hear Lennie chuckling.
