“You’re in early,” Rubirosa commented to McCoy as he appeared beside her desk. He smiled enigmatically.
“You get ahold of London yet?” he asked.
“Yeah … one … James Steel. He said they’ve got Evans, Callahan and … Davis, dead to rights on murder. What he really wants to nail down, though, is the phone hacking and the corruption, and they can’t get far enough up the chain to prove a connection between the murders and the hacking, and the corruption….”
“They’re being sandbagged.”
“That’s a … pretty generous interpretation.”
“Probably,” he admitted. “I hate corruption cases. Nobody ever comes out of them clean.”
