What good is this event if it's not actually reliable? Or is it symbolic in meaning, as well as literally?

[Yes, yes that's nothing but voice. Not knowing shame is not the same as not having dignity.]

Pointless.

Nothing but a distraction in this case. ...And why are hearts designed like that. Nothing like the real thing. They're not even that ( Read more... )

It represents the back and wings of a dove, which is the patron animal of the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite.

Then why are they called hearts, and not birds?

Aprhodite was the Greek goddess of love, not birds.

The image is simply meant to represent love, not what a heart actually looks like. We can't live without our hearts -- it's meant to be symbolic, what true love is supposed to mean to people. It's rather tragic, actually.

Yes, but associating some emotion with a lump of muscle makes as much sense as associating it with pigeons.

We can't live without any number of organs. Emotion's rather insignificant in comparison.

What good is any event? And we have the same fixation on them that we have on any other thing. Love makes us feel good. We cling to it.

Some are at least interesting, or give some new experience. This is meaningless. And that's an equally meaningless fixation.

Tradition is tradition. Valentine's Day is celebrated slightly differently at home than how a lot of people here are approaching it, but you don't question culture, you embrace it.

Like with Christmas. People are just desperate for something that reminds them of home. And as worthless as the event is, at least it's not malevolent, hm?

A holiday doesn't need to be followed just because it's old. Something being a part of culture is a lazy excuse.

But true that it's not malevolent, only annoying.

Most of the time.

[That wouldn't surprise him.]

It's not always hearts. Some cultures are fixated on other organs- such as the liver.

... True. The liver's a better choice, in my opinion. For some reason, the heart won out.

Sentimental nonsense in either case.

[That is quite enough for simple pleasantries. Yuca cuts right to the chase.]

I'm told you have my soul.

[Which is more than fine with him.]

I do. You saw it, when you woke up. When you left.

I don't know, Kurotsuchi-taichou. I find these quite entertaining.

[Yes, Daddy Shirou has a bubble of koi fish. Making heart shapes out of their scaly little bodies.]

[His own bubble seems to contain- not a crow, maybe a raven or rook. Something corvidae.

A corvid that seems to be ripping organs out of thankfully unidentifiable bubble-animals and making tools from them.]

What's entertaining about them?

[...That's lovely. It's a good thing Ukitake has seen a great many things or else that might make him physically sick.

His own fish are swimming away to find shelter under a lily pad.]

They seem to have a life of their own, don't they? I've been watching mine for a while and they're very friendly, giving out hearts at will.

[Now it's flying around, looking for more organs to collect...]

Apparently. What good is it giving out something so pointless?
