Вот как раз разброс цен еще поразил: от 150 до 700 крон за практически одно и то же и даже одной марки. Придется, наверно, тыкать пальцем во что-нибудь закрыв глаза, чтобы уж не мучиться с выбором...

It could be that a recent software update disabled both DVD units. Perhaps you should first try Windows checkpoint-restore or the equivalent for Apple if you have an Apple Computer. Or reinstall the the DVD units' drivers.

Or it could be Murphy's Law.

I guess it's the latter. Because the first was my first thought too. But the reinstalling of the drivers didn't change anything and the system suggested that there might be something wrong with the hardware: either to replace the units or check the connection cables. And since I'm not quite competent to do that I'm afraid that it would cost more to leave both of the computers to a professional repairman.
