A Novel Idea

Jul 17, 2006 14:20

Well, I am officially in week 2 of The Artist's Way. I've kept up with my daily free writing every day, and I have also written a lot of music and poetry. It's so exciting to be back in the creative flow again. I was a bit discouraged that I hadn't made my way back to fiction, especially Friday afternoon when I stared blankly at my novel and ( Read more... )

Tell me more about the Artist's Way. A large group of people from my yoga studio are obsessed with it. They had a small group going on devoted to it and I'll let you know if this starts back up in the Fall.

Oh, I dont have the room here to tell you all about the Artist's Way. I can talk about it for hours. :) Basically I feel like it's about opening your life back up to the natural creative flow of the universe. Fears and self-defeating thoughts and behavior can create such a block on your creative life, and in ways we don't even realize in the rest of our life as well. We have to learn and practice how to open ourselves back up and fill ourselves up with confidence, self-awareness, self-respect, etc. which allows us to move forward. It's good therapy I tell you!

I've never heard of a 24-hr urine test, but...eww! *shudders*

Do you also write the music for songs, or just the lyrics?

yeah, they had me take this urine test to measure my cortisol throughout the day because I had a high level of cortisol in my bloodwork, and they wanted to get perspective on my levels.

I write music and lyrics.

Fingrs crossed for your novel!!

Haven't been able to deal with mine yet, seriously, too!!
It needs editing and polishing and hopefully I'd wring it all together into an accepptable 1st draft (I refer to the present state as '0' draft)!! It's scattered all over in a gazillion files, & hasn't been touched since March at least!
Maybe we can do weekly reports & encourage each other?

Thank you. It's hard to get back going...you can convince yourself that you simply *can't* write if you're not careful--at least that's what I did.
I would like doing weekly reports and encouragement very much!
It's exciting to hear all about your music progress too!

i went on a wildlands study trek. Basically we hiked and camped while learning about the geography, environment, culture, and anything else we found intriguing in the country. Unfortunately I wasn't cut out for the trekking aspect so I had to leave before the 23 days were up. I loved Nepal though!

You've visited Nepal, Europe, and recorded an album?!

That is a lot of accomplishments. :-)

Thanks. It sounds a lot more impressive than it feels sometimes. :-P But I really do feel like I've been blessed to have had so many wonderful experiences already in my life.
