How long was your frezer without power? The freezer I have says it stays frozen up to 36 hours without power - if you don't open it of course.

I've always heard that if you lose power that your freezer keeps food cold for up to 2 days, as long as you're not opening the door. Also don't know if it makes a difference if your freezer is separate from the fridge or not, so you might be safe.

Hurray for restored power and air conditioning!!

A couple of years ago my fridge died, and it took a couple of days to get a new one installed. I had to throw out the raw meat in the freezer despite bags of ice, but everything else was okay.
