Graced with a Successful Quest

Aug 21, 2017 23:23

Though the skies were partly cloudy, my friend D and I were graced with a clear view of the total eclipse today, as we sat on the shores of Lake Marion in Summerton, South Carolina a few yards from the centerline of the path of totality. It was such a quick 2 1/2 minutes of total eclipse! We were so fortunate and my heart goes out to people who ( Read more... )

I'm so happy for you! I was thinking about you yesterday and hoped you had had a successful quest. (I watched from my backyard, very enjoyable, but we are already thinking about 2024!)

The eclipse glasses make even a partial eclipse so much more exciting than when we were kids. Did you know you could use leaves and colanders in place of the pin home trick as a kid--I sure didn't. Yes, I am plotting for 2024 too hoping to find a way to see the 360 degree horizon. (-:

They never told us to look for that when we were kids! (-:

*hugs you and hopes things are falling into place for you*

i can sense your joy and gratitude in every sentence of your post. I'm so glad for you that you had such a splendid experience. As time goes by, I'm sure it will mean even more to you.

For myself, I climbed a hill near my home in CA and was with a lot of other folks.....it was ....eerie in a way, but oh so nice. of course, there was no totality, so we missed a lot of the phenomenon that you were witness to .....but it still was enough to make me cry (tho, like Sam, i wasn't exactly sure why).

(and of course, i enjoyed the hell out of not being at work at 6:30 in the morning)......

Watched splendid shows last night on the telly showing the corona (and lots of other cool stuff), so i was ultimately quite happy.

Will look forward to your pics! So glad you have indeed found a good kitty sitter!

You're right. I was looking at the half moon last night with a new sense of familiarity-- like having seen a celebrity in person--I saw what you did there with the sun last week! It was so grand! How you danced there!🎇🌚

Sounds like a wonderful gathering! Did you have eclipse glasses? We're you with friends?

Yay that you had the day off!❤️

I wish I got to see all the coverage-- excellent stuff.

She even does some cleaning when she' s there--may her new pet sitting business thrive!

what a lovely icon.......

I'd say the Moon is a worthy planet to give your love to! And the Sun (although not a planet, of course)....and then there are all the other Solar System Sistahs (and brothas)....all pretty awesome....

Didn't have the day off at all......i had an appt to take my car into the shop, so i just went and watched the eclipse beforehand.....I'd bought glasses a couple weeks before....there were quite a number of us on the *Hill* of Signal Hill but no one I knew.....

I think you can watch all the coverage online whenever you want, on a number of sites....

Oh, that's a blessing that you've got someone who not only watches the kidz but cleans as well.....what a happy thing!

take care1
