Citizenship and protest

This morning began with me yelling at the radio and feeling violent urges toward a government minister. The reason was Phil Woolas* discussing plans to introduce a points system to obtaining British citizenship. OMG WTF BBQ!

Lots of places have points systems for immigration; but AFAIK they are all just positive points for things you have done/can do. Although I guess that a lot of places will turn you away if you have a criminal record, and I think some places won't let you in if you have expensive-to-treat medical conditions.

Protest is very important. There should be a pro-protesting protest.

No, the vast majority are desperate enough for citizenship that they'll put up with really quite an extraordinary amount of indignity in order to get it.
